A chin implant usually takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half, performed under local anesthesia with sedation or under general anesthesia. Incisions are made either inside the mouth or discreetly under the chin. Patients may experience mild discomfort for three to five days, and swelling can last for several weeks. Results are noticeable immediately, with the final contour becoming clear as swelling subsides over one to three months. Most chin implant procedures are outpatient. Stitches are typically removed within a week, and many patients return to work within five to seven days.
